Linksys RE6400 Wi-Fi Range Extender

This product from Linksys works with all the Wi-Fi routers from each and every band, so you don’t have to worry about that. The two undetectable antennas with Linksys RE6400 help it extend the network to an area of 7,500 square feet.

Because of the dual band mode, you will get up to 300Mbps and 867Mbps on the 2.4 and 5 GHz channel respectively. The Beamforming Technology in the extender allows the client device(s) and the extender to communicate directly, which prevents the data allocation to the areas where it is not required.

The one Gigabit Ethernet port is a quite useful thing of this product, as it lets you connect one of your devices to be directly connected to the extender. You will get a speed ten times faster than you get on a fast Ethernet.

It is very easy to install this product. You don’t have to worry about running a CD wizard or any software for that matter. Web based installation will do it for you in a matter of no time.

Before getting started with the setup process, jot down the connection name of your Wi-Fi and Password of the active network. Once you have the required details, start following the steps written below.

Step 1: Plug your extender into a power source and wait until an orange light starts to blink on the extender.

Step 2: Connect your range extender to a client device. The default name of the extender’s network would be Linksys Extender Setup- ABC (where ABC is the last three characters of the MAC Address of your extender).

Step 3: Now open a web browser and enter ‘http: //extender.linksys.com’ in the address bar. You can use the IP Address of the extender for the purpose as well.

NOTE: The default IP Address of an un-configured Linksys extender is ‘192.168.1.1. It, however, changes when the extender gets connected to a server.

Step 4: Click Start Setup button and the option ‘As a wireless range extender’ would have been selected by default. Just let it be, and click ‘Next.’

Step 5: Now select your wireless connection and enter the Password. Click ‘Next’ after entering the password.

Step 6: On the Extended Wireless Network configuration page, change the setting if you want to, or leave them in the default condition, and click ‘Next.’

Step7: As directed on your screen, relocate your extender, if needed, and when done, click ‘Next.’

Step 8: If you want to keep your network secure, it is recommended to create an admin password.

Step 9: Now click ‘Save’ and it’s done.
